Job summary
We are recruiting, to the role of Podiatry team lead for our Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale locality.
The team consists of 19 Podiatrists supported by 5 Assistants/apprentices and 4 A&C staff. We provide podiatry services into a number of community sites and into Scarborough Hospital and Malton Hospital.
We will welcome applications from HCPC registered Podiatrists, who are looking for a step up from a band 6 post or a sideways move for existing band 7 into a team lead role in a service with a good reputation for quality provision to our patients and good support for staff and career development.
Good diagnostic and clinical skills are essential, as well as good organisational and time management skills are critical to this role. You should have the ability to provide robust leadership and act as a role model.
Main duties of the job
The post holder, if full time, will be approximately 80:20 clinical: leadership. The clinical work will be to an advanced level in either Diabetes/High Risk or Biomechanics dependent on successful candidates skills
The leadership component will involve ensuring effective delivery of the podiatry service to the sites within the area. The recruitment of staff, managing leave, individual development reviews, patient flows and safe service.
The role will be supported by the Senior Leadership Team, consisting of two Principal Podiatrists, the Professional Lead and three other Podiatry Team Leads,
While previous leadership experience will be an advantage the successful candidate will be supported in developing their leadership skills, both with trust delivered modules and access to various NHS leadership programs.
While we are recruiting to a full-time role, part time of 22.5+ hours a week or job share would also be considered.
This post will be based in Spring Hill House, Scarborough, but the post holder will be expected to work at other locations, as such car driver or ability to travel is essential. There is also the opportunity for some of the non-clinical role to be undertaken via remote working.

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute/community trust providing a range of community services across the North East of England.
The Podiatry Service employs 65 Podiatrists and covers the majority of the 3000 square miles of North Yorkshire and York area and is provided from over 60 clinical locations.
The service is managed in 4 Locality based teams.
In addition, our "one service" model provides seamless care for patients with acute Diabetes and other high-risk complications into the MDFT in our own Hospital and under service level agreement into York, Scarborough, Northallerton and Malton Hospitals. For this vacancy there will also be the opportunity to work in your relevant specialty either in the MSK or Diabetes and High-risk clinics.
HDFT Podiatry service worked closely with Huddersfield and Plymouth Universites in delivering the Podiatry apprentice programme and currently have 4 apprentices at different stages in their degree, the team lead role will continue with the liaison with Huddersfield.
The Podiatry service is proactively increasing its research capacity with current involvement in a number of research projects with academic partners. In addition, we will support our staff to develop their own research interests, application for funding etc.
