Facilitate project team meetings, cross-functional communication, and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
Establish and maintain functionally-integrated project schedules to enable accurate project, financial, and portfolio analyses and ensure accurate inputs are provided into business planning processes
Assess the business case for a specific drug development decision, including assessment of risk and/or valuation of various options to be considered by leadership
Evaluate Genentech’s drug development portfolio against business strategy, competitive pressures, and other market dynamics to identify strategic initiatives that would enhance the portfolio
Conduct market research, forecasting, and data analytics to develop strategic sales & marketing insights and deliver impactful presentations to executive leadership that drive business impact across the organization
Three rotations lasting 8 months each
One rotation in each of program management, portfolio strategy, and commercial strategy functions
Tailored assignments that will provide challenging and meaningful projects with hands-on experience
A 2-year manager that will serve as your mentor to support your career development and success throughout the program
Guidance from experienced managers for on-the-job training during each rotation
Training to build your technical and leadership skills
Exposure to senior leadership across Genentech and Roche
Networking with other rotational associates at Genentech

Must have an MS/PhD in STEM-related fields or an MBA. Current postdocs that will have not been in their positions for more than 2 years by August 2024 are also eligible to apply
Must be a recent graduate (less than two years since graduating from your last degree by August 2024)
0-2 years of work experience in the biotechnology industry
A minimum of 1 year of exposure to the business side of drug development. Examples of experience include:
Graduate consulting club
Independent or part-time consulting outside of academia
Venture fund at your university
Internship within the biotechnology industry in a business-facing (e.g. non-lab) role

About the Program:
The Portfolio Rotation Program (PRP) is a 2 year rotational program that provides motivated early-in-career individuals the opportunity to learn the management principles behind drug development and commercialization. PRP participants will be embedded in teams across the drug development life cycle evaluating business strategies, facilitating team decision-making, and supporting the execution of our world-class science to bring the best medicines to patients. The goal is to build a diverse talent pipeline of future industry leaders with drug development and commercialization experience.
PRP participants will have the opportunity to rotate in the Program Management, Portfolio Strategy, and Commercial Strategy functions at Genentech. Together, these functions will provide the PRP participant a holistic experience to become a drug development professional within the biopharmaceutical industry.
Project Management : This function plays a critical role in delivering transformative medicines to patients by driving strategic drug development planning, execution, and decision-making through cross-functional teams.
Portfolio Strategy: This function takes a holistic view of all the drugs in our development portfolio to generate objective business insights, balance risk with value, and frame problems to enable quality decision-making.
Commercial Strategy: Once a drug is approved, this function uses competitive intelligence, primary insights, data analytics, and forecasting to unlock key insights for our internal partners that ultimately benefit healthcare providers and patients.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $99,300 and $184,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
