Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact for site
Develops, implements, and maintains safety programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation
Conducts job hazard assessments and recommends appropriate hazard control approaches
Oversees occupational safety programs such as: electrical, lockout-tagout, material handling (cranes, aerial lifts, and forklifts), contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, cryogenics, incident investigations, and robotics
Performs analysis of health and safety data to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and develop program/process improvements
Reviews new construction and renovation plans for EHS aspects
Compile, interpret and present various KPIs
Conducts internal compliance inspections to identify actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements
Partners with management to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of EHS programs
Partners with engineers, scientists, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes and operations and building construction projects
Communicates safety information to employees, management, and other stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety initiatives
Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS Committee, and the Emergency Response, and Crisis Management teams
Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases and regulatory agencies
Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures
Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training.
Supports the site’s environmental, occupational health, and fire protection programs.
Managing/overseeing third party consultants/contractors
Implementing and managing all safety related programs and supporting occupational health and environmental programs
Maintains current knowledge of changes in safety regulations, standards, and best practices and updates employer’s safety programs and procedures accordingly
Bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science (MS) in the same disciplines with 3 years of relevant experience.
Certified Professional Ergonomist and/or extensive experience with performing industrial and office ergonomic evaluations and resolving ergonomic risks in the workplace is highly desired.
Experience in conducting incident investigations, personal protective equipment assessments, and job hazard analysis and EHS training.
Experience in conducting training for crane, aerial lift, fall protection and forklift operations.
Experience with managing various EHS compliance programs (with a specific emphasis on occupational safety programs, such as electrical, lockout-tagout, material handling, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, and cryogenics) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
