Are you passionate about user perceived latencies, building the home of the future, and technical challenges that span cloud services, client, and IOT devices? If so, we may have your next career move! We’re seeking a passionate and collaborative Technical Program Manager who has deep technical experience in large scale distributed services including client devices to join our Alexa Smart Home Voice Conversational Experience team. Our charter is to build the fastest, lowest friction, and highest reliability voice experiences for customers to control their smart home IOT devices, such as lightbulbs, cameras, etc.
This position is responsible for defining a technical roadmap to improve latency for the domain, driving alignment with engineering and product teams and their leadership across VP organizations spanning device and cloud teams, and for leading these distributed programs to launch. The position requires building deep technical knowledge across Alexa systems. You will also proactively identify program review mechanisms, investigations, and investments in instrumentation to influence organizational priorities as well as own cross-functional communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned. As a seasoned TPM in a deep technical space, you will participate in sharing knowledge and collaborating with other TPMs and engineering and in the career development of junior team members. The ideal candidate is well-organized, analytical and can work effectively in an ambiguous problem space.
Key job responsibilities
* Manage technology programs with broad cross-organizational impact. Define requirements, negotiate priorities, and deliver solutions and mechanisms.
* Work with engineers and technical leaders to identify investments and technical solutions to latency opportunities
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with technical and non-technical teams and stakeholders
* Drive effective cross-functional teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitments across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities
* Participate in and support system design
* Own successful delivery of large, impactful, and highly cross-functional program initiatives while simultaneously tracking a set of smaller projects
* Lead and contribute to weekly, monthly and quarterly business reviews, able to create, maintain and disseminate clear and concise program updates to stakeholders across multiple organizations
* Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs with technical constraints
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop program and product requirements- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
