- Post-graduate education to Masters level or equivalent
- Leadership or management formal qualification
- Membership of the CSP/RCOT
- Extensive post graduate experience across a range of specialties including experience within either a trauma & orthopaedic therapy setting
- Sufficient experience at Team Lead level (Band 7) to demonstrate knowledge and skills required for the post
- Evidence of having delivered change for improvement
- Working with Higher education institutes
- Developing policy and clinical protocols
- Education of therapy staff and the MDT
- Involvement in clinical audit, research and quality improvement projects

Sandwell & West Birmingham are seeking to recruit an experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with well-developed leadership, communication and engagement skills as the Service Lead within our Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Service. This Service Lead role includes both clinical and service leadership & development responsibilities so is ideally suited to someone with advanced clinical skills looking to retain a clinical portfolio whilst also having the opportunity to lead and influence service change.
This exciting role could either provide a new opportunity for an existing Service Lead, or an opportunity for an individual looking to work at this level who is keen to broaden their experience and scope within the specialty of Trauma & Orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job
As an integrated Acute and Community Trust, this role will be acute service facing, based at our new acute hospital site - Midland Metropolitan University Hospital - but with a focus on development of services and pathways to provide excellence in clinical care across the patient journey.
The successful candidate will have a clinical background in Trauma and Orthopaedics and the ability to work at an advanced clinical level, alongside a proven track record of leading for quality improvement including the ability to develop multidisciplinary working relationships to enable and lead delivery of change at pace whilst strengthening quality and safety standards.
Alongside relevant clinical experience, applicants will demonstrate excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with strong leadership skills, including in challenging situations. The successful applicant will also be passionate about the value of our AHP workforce and in continuing to develop our workforce of highly engaged and skilled therapists and therapy support workers.
The successful candidate will also be an integral part of the multidisciplinary iBeds Directorate Senior Leadership Team, with a chance to develop operational and service development skills and to influence improvements across multiple clinical areas.
