      Job Description
      The Division of Integrated Health, Office of Systems and Project Management is hiring for a Software Testing Specialist for the replacement of the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). The incumbent is responsible to support operations tickets and operations release testing activities, by assisting and supporting the Testing Manager with all testing related activities. This position requires good writing skills and verbal skills--especially the ability to abstract software functionality into plain language testing plans. The individual should be familiar with industry-standard testing practices and writing test plans. A working knowledge of the government applications and business practices would be beneficial, particularly related to Medicaid.
      Preference may be given for experience with
      • Defect tracking tools such as JIRA, ClearQuest, etc.
      • Strong understanding of one or more querying languages, such as SQL
      • Stong technical writing skills
      • Stong technical knowledge such as XML, HTML, Java script, VBA

      Note: as of April 8, 2024, DHHS employees will be working a hybrid schedule, which includes 2 office days per week and 3 telework days.

      Responsibilities

      • Review and triage production operations tickets
      • Review and analyze system requirements, use cases and other system documentation to identify test impacts.
      • Identify and write user acceptance test scenarios.
      • Review test cases for accuracy and completeness.
      • Review unit and system integration test case results and provide feedback based on expectations documents.
      • Execute test scenarios.
      • Record and document actual test results and compare to expected results.
      • Detect software failures and record identified defects using the project defect tracking tool so that defects may be corrected.
      • Troubleshoot issues in the test environment and assist in root cause analysis following established resolution pathways.
      • Act as a liaison between end-user testers, technical analysts, information technology analysts, consultants and others in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of the system components to ensure optimal operational performance.
      • Coordinate and assign tests; provide assistance in resolving problems; approve system changes and establish project priorities.
      • Set goals, establish priorities, manage resources, develop concepts and approaches, review projects progress and results.
      • Consult, make recommendations, give appropriate advice, and facilitate decisions.
      • Conduct ad hoc testing to challenge the system's operation and design.
      • Identify and report on test areas that could especially impact training or organization change management.

      Supplemental Information

      • Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
