What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct initial and follow-up reviews of patient records to ensure accurate diagnosis and related documentation
- Query physicians for additional health record documentation as necessary
- Educate healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement and accuracy
- Collaborate with coding professionals to resolve discrepancies in DRG assignments
- Participate in departmental meetings and conduct independent research on relevant clinical topics and coding guidelines
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, PA, NP, or medical school, or an Associate's degree with CCDS certification
- Minimum of two years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant experience
- Must possess a state-specific professional license or certification (CCDS, PA, RN, APN)
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities, including lifting and keyboard use
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Additional certifications in clinical documentation improvement or relevant specialties
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Familiarity with coding guidelines and regulatory policies
- Participation in continuing education programs related to healthcare and coding
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team
