- Assists in the creation and development of the Company’s policy forms, including manuscript endorsements, rate and rule manuals, and other items for its insurance products. Works with the Sr. Product Development Analyst and legal counsel to ensure all materials comply with legal requirements as well as the Company’s business needs.
- Researches and analyzes regulatory and other legal requirements and restrictions to determine the impact on policy forms, rate and rule manuals, and other items and make recommendations based on that evaluation.
- Provides coverage analysis and recommendations for Underwriting and/or Actuarial rate review.
- Ensures internal consistency of filed forms and rules with a focus on state-specific modifications.
- Develops project needs, analyses, proposals, and timelines to meet product development, filing, and training deadlines and coordinate them with the R&D Director and other departments, as needed.
- Creates policy and rule comparisons for competitive, regulatory, and other reasons.
- Manages and prepares responses to objections initiated by state insurance departments. Coordinates with other departments, including Actuarial, Underwriting, and/or Compliance and Legal, if necessary.
- Works independently to prepare and effectively present comprehensive reports and recommendations to all levels of Company management..
- Maintains current knowledge of marketplace trends related to the medical field to include specifically mergers, acquisitions, and managed care issues, including working with Business Development on monitoring competitor products.
- Maintains archive of policy forms and rate and rule manuals.
- Performs independently and maintains high levels of productivity and quality; ensures deadlines are met.
- Review the work of others to ensure consistency with the Company’s policy forms and rate and rule manuals, including the Underwriting Guidelines, website content, and operations, business development, marketing, and communications letters and other documents.
- Acts as a resource to Underwriting regarding policy language, rule intent or appropriate use of policy forms.
- Trains Underwriting, Claims, Business Development, and other staff members on policy forms and rules.
- Provides technical support to Underwriting, Operations, and IT staff in the execution of the implementation of policy forms and rules to ensure consistency with product strategy and intent.
- Interacts with all levels of management to provide assistance on more complex issues.
- Works collaboratively with Business Development, Claims, Risk Management, Actuarial, Legal, and IT on issues of mutual concern, at both the staff and management levels.
- Provides technical input regarding new programs, additional coverage, filing issues and pricing strategies.
- Some travel may be required.
- Bachelor's degree with a major in business, risk management and insurance, a legal-related field, or a healthcare-related field required.
- Additional insurance courses and designation such as CPCU or RPLU preferred.
- A minimum of five years insurance experience required, preferably medical professional liability insurance product development, underwriting, legal, regulatory, and/or claims experience.
- Previous experience evaluating, interpreting, and drafting insurance policy language and developing underwriting-related rules language preferred.
- Previous experience evaluating, interpreting, and drafting applications, questionnaires, and policy-related and rules-related letters and forms preferred.
- Previous experience researching and interpreting regulatory requirements and restrictions required and responding to department of insurance objections preferred.
- Previous experience researching, interpreting, and comparing competitor products preferred.
- Possess strong research skills, including proficiency in internet-based research tools and resources.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with others.
- Possess strong analytical, deductive reasoning, and project management skills, including the ability to understand and interpret business needs and to help resolve conflicts over differing business needs.
- Ability to work on multiple projects across varying domains.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High level of self-motivation.

Job Summary:

Qualifications:
Position Salary Range
$55,123.00 - $90,962.00The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
