      Product Development & QC Engineer

We have an immediate opening for a Product Development & QC Engineer in our Bellingham, WA facility. This role is a hybrid between quality control and hands-on product development. In addition to traditional quality control duties such as product sample testing, compliance verification, and product issue tracking, this engineer will play an active role in prototyping, design iteration, and early-stage product development.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, be proficient in SolidWorks, and capable of machining, welding, and fabricating prototype parts. They should be comfortable making design modifications, creating production-ready drawings, and collaborating with factories and vendors. Familiarity with certification standards such as CSA, UL, and TUV is essential, as is the ability to support technical documentation and cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Test and evaluate new product samples: Receive and log new items. Uncrate and clean up. Perform design reviews and functionality tests. Report findings with pictures and documentation. Store and track samples, and manage sample disposition.
      • Prototype development and fabrication: Assist with hands-on prototyping using machining, welding, and fabrication tools to support product development. Work with product managers and designers to iterate quickly and bring ideas to life.
      • SolidWorks modeling and drawing creation: Make design modifications and generate detailed part and assembly drawings for vendors and internal teams.
      • Certification support: Assist in preparing documentation and prototypes for third-party product certifications such as CSA, UL, and TUV. Understand the product testing and certification process.
      • Factory communications: Collaborate with foreign factories to address product issues and support development improvements.
      • Cross-departmental support: Provide technical support to technical writers, service techs, and occasionally customers. Help answer questions about product functionality, assembly, and design intent.

      Job Requirements:

      • Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology
      • Strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with machining, welding, and fabrication
      • Proficiency in SolidWorks (required), including modeling and drawing generation
      • Experience with woodworking and metalworking machinery is a plus
      • Knowledge of product testing and certification standards (CSA, UL, TUV, etc.)
      • Experience with CNC programming and CAD software
      • Good knowledge of AC, DC and BLDC motors, electrical safety, and motor controls
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD
      • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
      • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
