- Assists supervisor on assigned shift and confers with management and/or technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems to ensure plant is operating at optimum efficiency.
- May provide work with Leads to provide hands on training with line employees.
- Monitors production lines for correct machine settings for optimum performance while conforming to product Manufacturing Standard Practices.
- Ensures timely corrective actions are implemented relating to equipment failures or break-downs, quality deviations, sanitation audits, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
- High school diploma or GED; or, any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
- 1 year of experience in manufacturing or production.
- Read, write and speak English to successfully accomplish essential functions; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to walk long distances; climb stairs and/or ladders; able to walk and maneuver between pallets of inventory.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
- Eligible for paid sick leave
The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Production Assistant - Spotter I at our San Benito Foods facility in Hollister , CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
Summary : Responsible for supporting the plant production Supervisor and/or Manager by reviewing production reports, spends time on the floor making observations and communicating issues to management; may need to coordinate corrective measures between Leads, Maintenance and Management. This is a seasonal, temporary, non-exempt, job supporting our fresh pack season, generally June – October.

The hourly wage is $18.00 - $19.75, based on experience and qualifications.
