- Assists in providing career and mentoring opportunities for members of the Duke community by planning, implementing, and coordinating programs related to mentoring and career exploration and support.
- Manages assigned mentoring and professional development technologies, platforms, and programs and supports University partner programs and initiatives.
- Facilitates and leads the recruiting, training, motivation and supervision of alumni volunteers for mentoring, career support, and advising programs and for promotional materials and events related to promoting those programs; supports campus partners in recruiting and stewarding volunteers.
- Continually plans, designs, develops, curates, and delivers career and mentoring resources to support platforms, technologies, and programs.
- Liases with various university departments, AED colleagues, and outside vendors.
- Leads communication with end users and university departments to support onboarding, marketing, and maintenance of programs and platforms.
- Assists in the evaluation and implementation of new products and vendors to support professional development and mentoring.
- Monitors, evaluates, and assesses program and product effectiveness; recommends and implements modifications.
- Manages the Duke Alumni LinkedIn group and collaborates with campus partners to promote it as a destination for career, job, and professional development resources for alumni.
- Plans and completes projects independently or collaboratively as assigned; participates and contributes as a team member in cross-functional projects; presents deliverables to Assistant Vice President, Alumni and Student Connections.
- Provides customer service to program partners and end-users, trouble shoots performance and liases with technical teams, in coordination with university departments and AED’s Alumni Relations team.
- Coordinates data collection, developing and coordinating implementation of procedures and processes.
- Engages in professional development activities that will improve capability and professional expertise and mastery to deliver exceptional professional development and mentoring products, services, and programs to alumni, students, and stakeholders in the Duke community.
- This role may requires some evening and weekend work, generally not exceeding 1-2 evenings per month and 1-2 weekend days per semester.
- Supports the AVP, Alumni and Student Connections, in translating AED’s mission, vision, and values into a strategic plan which is updated annually.
- Supports the AVP, Alumni and Student Connections in converting the strategic plan into annual goals and objectives with initiatives, data metrics, owners, and timelines.
- Supports the AVP, Alumni and Student Connections in understanding the function’s priorities to provide timely and relevant products, services, and solutions.
- Supports the AVP, Alumni and Student Connections in working with alumni, students, staff, and faculty across the university in understanding their needs and in developing programs, tools, and solutions that service those needs.

Occupational Summary
The Alumni and Student Connections team of Duke Alumni Engagement and Development (AED) is responsible for supporting students and alumni through mentoring, advising, career support, and community building.
The Program Coordinator will have primary responsibility for managing mentoring and career development technologies, platforms, and programs and providing thoughtful customer service to participants and volunteers. This role requires a customer service and process-oriented person who is comfortable with new technologies.
The Program Coordinator assists in the planning, implementation and coordination of activities related to programs that support alumni in their careers and connect students with alumni for professional development. The program coordinator must collaborate successfully with stakeholders within and outside of Duke Alumni Engagement and Development (AED). This role supports the budget, people, processes, and technology of the alumni careers and mentoring program and helps implement the careers and mentoring strategic plan that is aligned with AED’s strategic plan and priorities. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Alumni and Student Connections, Alumni Engagement and Development (AED).

Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANTEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
