- Overseeing the overall organization and leadership of the programs and services within the portfolio, including patient care delivery, operational planning, Human Resource development, financial management, quality management, education and research.
- Providing leadership in the definition of strategic direction and ensuring excellence in patient care and service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes that include planning, quality monitoring and risk avoidance to the patients and the organization.
- Cultivating a just culture and healthy workplace environments where teams work in collaboration to deliver excellence in patient and family centred care at every interaction.
- Providing leadership to an inter-professional team of healthcare professionals, in collaboration with the Medical Leaders.
- Developing partnerships with referring community agencies and organizations.
- Facilitating program planning, goal setting, evaluation and assisting in the management of the fiscal, human and material resources assigned to the portfolio, as well as establishing standards for the development and delivery of program services to patients and clients.
- Regulated Health Professional with master’s level preparation in Health or Business Management or equivalent.
- At least 5 years management experience in progressive leadership in acute care with staff leadership, operational and change management experience.
- Work experience in acute care woman and child services.
- Awareness and knowledge of current issues in mental health services.
- Demonstrates leadership competencies consistent with director position level.
- Ensures that all aspects of patient care and services within the portfolio are consistent with the program goals and objectives and with the needs of the client group being served.
- Responsible for enhancing the inter-professional collaboration throughout the continuum of patient care.
- Develops vision, goals and objectives for the program and services within the portfolio, in alignment with the mission and strategic plan of Mackenzie Health.
- Promotes team spirit, cohesiveness, motivation, and commitment.
- Provides guidance and mentorship for managers and educators supporting professional development and career planning.
- Promotes an environment conducive to excellence in practice, open communication, and high morale, and motivates staff to question, learn and develop to their highest potential.
- Superior financial and statistical management abilities, including the ability to assess, interpret and project budgetary needs.
- Superior interpersonal, change management, team building, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to initiate and lead change initiatives. Demonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and the organizations’ health and safety plans, policies, and procedures. Attends Health and Safety and Patient Safety education and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures, to ensure a healthy, a safe work environment.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Acute Care Clinical Transformation and Growth, the Program Director of the Woman & Child and Mental Health Program is responsible for all activities related to the administrative and patient care functions within the designated portfolio across a multi-site hospital system. The Program Director will work with clinical and program leaders to ensure activities and programs are consistent with Mackenzie Health’s goals and objectives and that efficient and effective administrative and clinical practices are provided. The primary responsibilities include: collaborating with leadership teams to ensure effective coordination of efforts for optimal patient care; providing exceptional and visionary leadership in the development of program, organizational and financial plans; liaising and collaborating with internal and external professionals and stakeholders to ensure practice standards are aligned and integrated across and within the program, establishing and representing the global overview of the program through sound and influential decision-making and achievement of the strategic and operational plans; performing other duties consistent to the job classification.
