What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage the VA educational benefit program in accordance with federal guidelines
- Certify student enrollments and monitor student progress for VA benefits
- Provide technical assistance and information to students, staff, and the public
- Collaborate with VA Work Study students and the VA to coordinate program aspects
- Prepare and maintain student VA records in compliance with regulations
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's degree AND two (2) years of experience as a School Certifying Official, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with information management systems
- Experience in an office setting with a focus on confidentiality
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment
- Knowledge of VA regulations and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Veteran with prior military service or a military dependent
- Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official Handbook
- Experience in conflict resolution and effective communication
- Understanding of diverse academic and socioeconomic backgrounds
