What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Write application programs using higher-level languages and enterprise-class development tools to meet user needs
- Collaborate with GIS staff to integrate business data with geospatial data
- Test and debug applications to ensure they operate correctly and meet user requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies and produce functional requirements and design specifications
- Train users on application capabilities and maintain existing systems to ensure effectiveness
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry certification, or an Associate's Degree in Computer Information Science with 1 year of application development experience, or 2 years of application development experience
- Experience with Microsoft stack languages including VB.NET, C#.NET, ASP.NET Webforms, and .NET Core
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly for various audiences
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including onsite and remote resources
- Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle and project development cycle
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Microsoft Access, including VBA, data tables, forms, views, reports, and migrating to SQL Server
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and Power Platform
- Exposure to GIS tools, preferably in the ESRI environment
- Knowledge of version control systems such as GitHub or Subversion
- Commitment to customer support and establishing positive relationships with users
