      Summary

      CAE USA Inc. (CAE) is seeking an experienced proposal editor to provide copy editing for government proposals. The editor should have 5 years of editing experience and must have schedule flexibility to keep up with the department’s fast-paced, rapidly changing proposal environment. **This role requires hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and can sit in Arlington, TX or Tampa, FL.**

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Collaborates with proposal managers and teams to support the development of proposals that clearly articulate winning strategies, compelling solutions, and substantiated themes
      • Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
      • Ensures that all proposals and responses (e.g., proposals, RFIs, sources sought notices, white papers) are compelling, well-written, grammatically correct, accurate, and consistent in voice and terminology
      • Ensures that proposals and all responses are in full compliance with agency specifications and assembled with the highest levels of professionalism
      • Understands federal RFP structures and associated documents (e.g., SOWs, PWSs, specs)
      • Edits proposals for submission to the government, reviewing for and correcting grammatical mistakes, misspellings, and incorrect punctuation; removing unnecessary and repetitive text; ensuring consistency in word usage, headings and subheadings, cross-references, table and figure numbers, and other numbers throughout reports; correcting errors in citations and references; and rewriting or offering suggestions for rewriting poorly structured material
      • Provides in-depth editing support as well as copy editing based on the needs of a given proposal or other opportunity
      • Uses best judgment to determine the level of edit required within a given timeframe
      • Adheres to company, government, and military branch style guides regarding grammar, usage, punctuation, formatting, etc.
      • Participates in establishing and maintaining style guidelines and standards for text and illustrations
      • Ability to work a flexible schedule

      Qualifications and Education Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience as an editor in a corporate or government environment
      • Schedule flexibility – ability to work nontraditional hours (i.e., evening hours, weekends, holidays) when necessary. **This role requires hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and can sit in Arlington, TX or Tampa, FL.**
      • Ability to work independently with only general management direction
      • Solid reading comprehension with the ability to decipher technical descriptions and explain them clearly
      • Excellent time management skills and proven success in meeting deadlines and adapting to changing schedules
      • Proven ability to edit to present clear, concise responses
      • Ability to independently handle multiple, simultaneous assignments and meet tight deadlines, providing a consistent level of quality and accuracy
      • Superior communication skills and quick responses to job requests
      • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and punctuation and have accurate proofreading skills
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      • Proficient in working in and revising Word templates and using style sheets
      • Exceptional organizational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
      • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

      Preferred Skills

      • Familiarity with editing software (e.g., PerfectIt, Visible Thread)
      • Knowledge of AP, GPO, Chicago style manuals and ability to apply appropriately to corporate style guide and needs
      • Experience with U.S. Federal Government proposal development processes
      • Familiarity with government writing style and military populations
      • Familiarity with managing external editing resources
      • Knowledge of SharePoint and experience in a collaborative working environment
      • Experience working in a hybrid in-person and remote environment using online collaboration software such as Teams
      • Demonstrated ability to work with version control processes
      • Understanding of win themes, proposal concepts, and the business development lifecycle
      • Familiarity with aviation, modeling and simulation, and/or adult learning

      Security Responsibilities

      Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

      • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

      Work Environment

      This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, media, and online collaboration tools.
