      Within Cigna’s international division, a dedicated unit (IOH) focuses on the needs of Intergovernmental organisations (IGOs), Nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) and embassies. We have over 60 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing international group health insurance and employee benefits programmes for international and locally recruited staff members.

      The position

      We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic-thinking Public Affairs Business Development Advisor to join our team.

      Reporting into the Chief Marketing Officer for IH Marketing, the job holder will be accountable for expanding Cigna’s reach in the international health insurance market, focusing on building relationships with IGOs, NGOs and Government clients (B2G).

      As the Public Affairs Business Development Advisor, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in representing our organization's interests and ensuring our services align with the needs of these clients.

      The purpose of the job is to unlock new opportunities for Cigna IOH by building and developing relations with political decision makers relevant to International organisations.

      The role requires to establish the broader political/policy/cultural context in which the commercial activities of Cigna IOH can take place. In addition, the role will enable Cigna IO to access and interface with the broad audience of influencers and decision-makers necessary to attain the best outcomes for Cigna IOH. And to design and execute the company’s public, government, and political operations in the region, with an initial focus on Brussels, Geneva, Rome and Vienna.

      Main Duties/Responsibilities:

      • Identify and target potential B2G and IGO clients to promote our health insurance solutions.
      • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to secure new contracts and partnerships.
      • Lead and coordinate advocacy efforts with European governments, public agencies, policymakers, trade associations and other significant influencers such as academic, philanthropic and industry organisations – both on an ongoing basis and as support for specific tenders.
      • Monitor market trends, government policies, and international healthcare developments to identify growth opportunities.
      • Proactively develop B2G pipeline of opportunities across Europe. Create a broad and elite band of influence and recognition for Cigna IOH that will underpin its business interests.
      • Demonstrate creativity in identifying opportunities where Cigna's B2G products/services can solve problems of prospective clients.
      • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within IGOs and government bodies.
      • Serve as the primary point of contact for these clients, understanding their unique needs and advocating for our services.
      • Build and leverage effective working relationships with all internal partners throughout the enterprise; effectively collaborate with advocacy partners to ensure completion of client/customer related tasks and/or deliverables.
      • Prepare and present compelling proposals and presentations tailored to the specific requirements of B2G and IGO clients.
      • Help drive B2G sales success by partnering with new business managers (NBMs) and internal sales representatives.
      • Help drive sales results through effective activity management plan including effective consultant relationships with assigned markets, regular proactive consultant communication to include face to face meetings, strategy meetings, CIGNA updates and method for ongoing communication of new products/services/leadership, etc.
      • Develop and execute effective target prospect strategy for new prospects with multiple venues to establish relationships and present CIGNA capabilities.
      • Ensure compliance with all Cigna policies and procedures whilst driving sales success for IGO and B2G Segment.
      • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends and competitive intelligence.
      • Use market insights to inform our product/service development and strategic decision-making.
      • Maintain baseline market competitive knowledge on trends and differentiators and capitalize on such information to represent Cigna’s value proposition in market-based events and sales discussions.

      • Strong project management skills and experience.
      • High levels of initiative with a proactive and solutions driven approach.
      • Ability to communicate at a high level and explain concepts in a clear and concise fashion while being detail-oriented and organized in execution.
      • Ability to research, prepare and deliver internal and external presentations in a range of formats and settings.
      • Ability to function in a team based/matrix environment.
      • Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasive skills.

      Experience/Qualifications Required:

      • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Relations, Public Affairs, or a related field (Master's preferred).
      • Proven track record of successful business development in the international health insurance or related industry.
      • Past experience and related industry knowledge in developing business plans, insights into governmental selling and managing regulatory complexities will be an advantage.
      • International and local travel on need basis.
