      Job Summary:

      • The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst works with product owners, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Software Developers to analyze and define testing requirements for new or modified software systems.
      • Executes planned tests to validate that application systems function according to business requirements and design specifications.
      • Communicates and documents testing procedures and results and collaborates in an Agile software development environment following organizational standards and guidelines.
      • Occasional in-state travel is required for this position.

      The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

      Job Duties:

      • Review business requirements and design specifications for custom business applications developed by Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Information Technology (IT) to ensure understanding of software deliverables.
      • Determine and document scope of testing, test strategies, and test plans following ADE IT Quality Assurance Standards.
      • Design and document test cases, test data, and test procedures to validate application systems and software modifications completed by Development team per business requirements and designs.
      • Execute test cases as defined in test plans and procedures, to include functional, black box, UI, compatibility, integration, performance, regression, and/or automation testing as needed.
      • Communicate and assist in managing problems/incidents/issues related to projects or business applications; update problem/incident/issue tickets with fixes or workarounds.
      • Communicate project status to QA Manager and other IT team members.
      • Participate in various activities of the Agile SCRUM methodology.
      • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

      Knowledge in:
      • Thorough understanding of industry standard software Quality Assurance testing methods (exploratory, scenario-based, risk-based, data-centric, etc.)
      • Knowledge and understanding of software application systems development to assess testing needs and recommend appropriate strategies for testing
      • Ensures tests are executed and analyzed properly
      • Test Automation practices and tools, such as Selenium, ReadyAPI, and JMeter
      • Experience with SQL Server databases and T-SQL database query language
      • Experience in Microsoft Azure DevOps Test Plans
      • Experience in Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Azure DevOps
      • Experience working in Agile SCRUM methodology
      • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree in quality assurance testing and analysis, is required

      Skills in:
      • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication
      • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills

      Ability to:
      • Ensures any code defects or issues are properly documented, escalated, and monitored
      • Work closely with development to support testing needs of assigned team
      • Balance and organize multiple project tasks and handle changing assignments and priorities
      • Work collaboratively within teams and across organizational groups
      • Learn new systems, technologies, tools, and work processes
      • Write queries to examine, analyze, and validate data

      Retirement:

      You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
