      Job Description

      We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join our team in Barnstaple. In this key role you will work alongside an established team and be responsibile for implementing and maintaining the QA systems and ensuring the proper implementation of various quality plans and procedures. Successful candidate will identify and resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in cross-functional teams. This is a critical role, requiring readiness for autonomous action and to be a driver of change in the business.

        Key responsibilities (not exhaustive)

        • Manage all aspects of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001, plan and perform internal audits of the quality systems as related to documented procedures, work instructions and quality systems.
        • PPAP Submission Management.
        • Represent the company by interfacing with customers, assisting with internal and external audits, and managing customer concerns.
        • Ensure that project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements and/or contract; give guidance and direction on orders.
        • Promote continuous improvement by collecting, interpreting, analysing and summarising data and making recommendations through structured problem-solving techniques.
        • Lead programmes to assess quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods.
        • Apply continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of production, leading kaizen events and advising personnel.
        • Give guidance, training and instruction to staff, customers and intermediaries on all relevant Quality matters.
        • Manage reporting out to Corporate Metric Databases.

        Requirements:

        • Internal Auditor ISO 9001 (Lead auditor / knowledge of IATF 16949 and VDA Auditing systems preferred).
        • IATF Core Tools knowledge as a minimum, formal training qualification preferred.
        • Good working knowledge and experience of using problem solving techniques: 8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5 Whys etc.
        • Preferred: Green Belt Six Sigma qualified.
        • Mitutoyo CMM (Geopak) and OGP Smartscope (ZONE3) programming experience.
        • Microsoft Excel and Word competent. Confident interacting with cloud-based services.
        • Experience within Quality Assurance or similar role.
        • Excellent planning skills, readiness to take autonomous action.
        • Track record of leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
