- Develop mortality, longevity, critical illness, and disability assumptions through analysis of internal and external data.
- Support the annual experience analysis with a focus on North American mortality.
- Support the development and calibration of the divisional economic capital model via the “quantifying insurance risk” framework.
- Contribute to the development of vital data, processes, and knowledge to support the development of pricing bases for new product or market initiatives.
- Support the wider R&D team with improvements across processes, tools, models, and documentation, as well as challenging current practices.
- Support the R&D teams in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America across the Division through the sharing of resources and project work.
- Study for actuarial exams and make progress towards fellowship of a professional actuarial body.
- Degree in a relevant subject area, e.g. mathematics, statistics, data science or actuarial studies
- Demonstrates an appropriate level of actuarial knowledge for their experience level.
- Awareness of systems and ability to learn: Excel, Emblem, R, SQL, Python and Tableau.
- Shows initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
- Provides accurate and timely updates on status of work and escalates issues appropriately.
- Participates actively in meetings, has 'meeting presence'.
- Ability to work well on a team as well as independently.
- Communicates in a clear and practical manner both verbally and in writing.
- A student member of a professional actuarial body (e.g. The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Society of Actuaries or the Actuaries Institute of Australia)

Job Description
Reporting into the AVP, R&D (Inforce Analysis), the role is to support the production and delivery of the company’s actuarial bases in respect of longevity, mortality, disability, and critical illness products across the Pacific Life Re Division. This will involve working with the R&D Team on research projects, product development, economic capital calibration and supporting the provision of recommended best estimates across the territories in which PL Re operates.
