- Develop, implement, and regularly review radiation safety arrangements, processes, procedures, and methodologies
- Ensure that Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) prepared Radiation Risk Assessments are conducted regularly and review internal risk assessments and radiation-controlled area local rules in consultation with the RPA
- Appoint Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) and monitor them in the discharge of their duties
- Prepare all forms of Licenses and Permits (or proposed amendments to those already existing) as required for submission to the relevant authority (i.e., HSE, EA etc.)
- Co-ordinate a program of regular radiation protection inspections and audits
- Attend and contribute to relevant internal and external radiation working groups, forums, councils etc. including Chairing of the Warship Support Radiation Protection Group
- Support and advice to other relevant projects, as and when required
- Have a background in a Safety, Health & Environment function in a Radiation Protection or Health Physics role
- Qualified to a minimum of HNC level
- Complete required RPS Training (Minimum of Success Factors Course 4076)
- Ideally hold Chartered Radiation Protection Professional (CRadP) accreditation or have an extensive knowledge across a range of radiation protection areas with background knowledge in related areas
- Ideally Qualified in a recognised radiation protection qualification

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

The Team:
The Radiation Protection Lead is a part of the SHE Team and Workshops teams, which includes Nuclear Calibration and Non-Destructive Examination teams and with whom the RPL will liaise with closely, ensuring compliance and Radiation Safety.
