    • Two years teaching experience.
    • Master's Degree in reading or equivalency including clinical experience.
    • Valid New Jersey certification as Reading Specialist.
    • To explain and interpret the reading guide of all teachers involved in the program.
    • To assist in development of materials related to objectives listed in the curriculum guide.
    • To work cooperatively with the teachers and building principal.
    • In-servicing new teachers on administering the reading program in accordance with building practices.
    • Evaluate all new students for placement on a reading level, confer with parents and teachers.
    • Assist teachers with the interpretation of test data.
    • Demonstrate various reading skills and methods for the purpose of facilitating learning.
    • Inform the building principal of program needs, suggest materials to be ordered to meet the stated needs. Purchase materials when directed by the building principal.
    • Keep building principal apprised of program and pupil progress.
    • Teach assigned classes/groups including Basic Skills and remedial students as needed.
    • Evaluate test data and if warranted recommend changes to the reading program.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the building principal.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      1. Two years teaching experience.
      2. Master's Degree in reading or equivalency including clinical experience.
      3. Valid New Jersey certification as Reading Specialist.
      REPORTS TO: Principal

      JOB GOAL: To serve as a teacher, counsel and interpreter of the reading program. Through cooperative efforts, seek to develop a sound program of reading that will foster growth in moral, ethical and social values; stimulate the ability to think independently as well as critically; promote reading experience that will be rich, varied and meaningful.

      Ten month year. Salary to be according to the current schedule.

      EVALUATION:
      Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with state and board regulations/policies by the building principal.
