      Job summary

      The Family Practice is seeking a dedicated individual to join our reception team. As a frontline staff member, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our service users and visitors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

      The position is part-time, 20 hours working Monday - Friday.

      Requirements:

      • Previous experience in General Practice is not mandatory, but effective communication and teamwork skills are necessary.
      • Familiarity with Emis web is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
      • Flexibility to work varying hours to cover annual leave or sickness is essential.

      Main duties of the job

      Main Duties:

      • Process telephone and e-requests for appointments.
      • Guide patients to the most suitable service (Care navigate).
      • Answer and transfer incoming calls efficiently.
      • Record contact information accurately in the patient records.
      • Assist with patient registrations.
      • Perform general administrative tasks such as photocopying and filing.
      • Manage practice emails promptly and professionally.
      • Adhere to the practice's policies and procedures.
      • Complete any necessary training.
      • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
      • Provide support to clinical staff with general tasks as required.

      The Family Practice, situated in Blackburn's town centre, boasts a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our team comprises of 2 GP Partners, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 Physician Associate, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Secretary, and our dedicated administration team.

      • Handling general telephone queries, booking appointments, managing incoming and outgoing calls, redirecting calls, and recording messages.
      • Monitoring and managing practice emails efficiently.
      • Processing prescription requests on an as-needed basis.
      • Conducting filing and photocopying of paper documents.
      • Performing scanning, filing, and coding of electronic documents as required.
      • Undertaking computer data entry tasks accurately.
      • Generating and completing assigned tasks promptly.
      • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in clinical rooms, workspaces, and kitchen areas.
