      Job summary

      We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable full time receptionist/adminstrator to join our friendly team.

      This role is both challenging and rewarding. Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to work under pressure in a patient facing environment.

      Candidates must be flexible as additional hours may be required to cover annual leave for other members of the team.

      Main duties of the job

      The role will require an ability to receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

      We currently use a clinical system called Vision but this will shortly be changing to SystmOne. Knowledge of this system is not essential as full training will be given.

      About us

      We are a small but extremely busy practice in the heart of Royston.

      We have a clinical team of 3 GP partners, 2 nurses and a phlebotomist. You will also be fully supported by 8 members of the admin/reception team.

      POST Full time Receptionist/Administrator 37.5 hours Mon-Friday between 8.30am-6.30pm

      Pay £11.82 ph

      LOCATION Dr Craven and Czepulkowski, 48 High Street, Royston, S71 4RF

      ACCOUNTABLE TO Doctors and Practice Manager

      JOB SUMMARY To assist in the efficient running of the reception area in a busy, two partner practice in Royston.

      PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

      1 To receive and direct patients and other professionals in a courteous and efficient manner.

      2 To operate the telephone system

      3 To make appointments on the computerized system.

      4 To deal with enquiries from patients and other professionals.

      5 To process computerized repeat prescriptions in the prescribed manner.

      6 To record messages and requests for home visits on the computer in the prescribed manner.

      7 To open and process mail

      8 To file correspondence and medical records and to extract same as appropriate.

      9 To generate and issue standard computerized letters.

      10 To input and extract data from the computerized medical system

      11 Photocopying documents

      12 To process patient hospital referrals on an online booking system

      13 To cover for absent colleagues

      14 Liaise with patients, hospitals and chemists as requested by the Gps

      15 Supporting and assisting the Doctors during surgery times as required

      16 Liaising with secondary care providers and arranging transport as necessary.

      17 liaise with attached staff, including health visitors, district nurses, midwives, counsellors etc

      18 Any other task required by the Gp or practice manager.

      19 Be able to send and receive emails.

      Duties could possibly be amended due to the changing needs of the Practice and NHS healthcare.
