- Process repossessions and coordinate sales with third-party vendor; follow up on replevin action when necessary.
- List personal property and refer questionable items to the proper authority.
- Respond to all member inquiries regarding repossession, redemption and sale of collateral.
- Review transfer requests, card blocks, settlement offers and payment options.
- Process collateral protection insurance for skip, damage, and premium deficiency refunds.
- Work with the members to finalize collateral balances when a deficiency balance remains.
- Responsible for escalations on collateral loans with outstanding titles in suspense.
- Work with the Loan Services team, DealerTrack and other 3rd party vendors to ensure timely resolution of unperfected liens.
- Responsible for the collection of delinquent mortgage loans, to include the determination for the delinquency and member’s ability to repay the loan.
- Offer budgetary advisor assistance to members.
- Determine values on property.
- Make referrals and recommendation to the Member Solutions Recovery Manager for potential tax sale, short sales and potential foreclosures.
- Obtain all member attorney information in the bankruptcy case.
- Ensure all cards are block and account is flagged.
- Refer bankruptcy information and any unjust loan decisions to Member Solutions Recovery Manager.
- Work with credit union attorneys and bankruptcy trustees to ensure payments are being made according to the approved plan.
- Recommend further action as applicable to maximize the collection of APGFCU loans.
- Monitor timely payments for collateral loans and escalate to the appropriate parties when a repossession is in order due to non-compliance.
- Monitor deceased member accounts for timely filing of estate claims.
- Monitor collateral for timely payments and initiate repossession when there are no payment arrangements in place.
- Work with the deposit services team to ensure that all deposit accounts and loans are being serviced and closed out accordingly.
- Negotiate collection maneuvers and settlements as appropriate and submit to the Member Solutions Recovery Manager for approval.
- Follow up on settlements to ensure proper documentation is maintained, the member’s credit bureau file is updated accordingly and 1099 C settlements are tracked.
- Locate members using all skip tracing tools available, such as member application, credit bureau, Internet, creditors, relatives, references and other applicable sources.
- Utilize skills to locate the member’s current information, bank accounts for garnishment, and properties for possible liens.
- Assist other collectors in skip tracing for members and collateral.
- Make recommendations to Member Solutions Recovery Manager accounts for legal action, after all internal collection efforts have been exhausted.
- Ensure all loan documentation, collection documentation, and payment history is in order for referral.
- Represent APGFCU for court hearings as applicable.
- Work with attorneys and third-party vendors on charged-off loan accounts for recovery of principle.
- Monitor payments received and follow up on payment arrangements with the members and/or attorneys.
- Initiate new ideas to maximize charge-off recovery by making recommendations to Member Solutions Recovery Manager.
- Maintain and update all information on charged off accounts.
- Assure that arrangements for future loan payments are documented.
- Document and update all member information changes.
- Maintain proper documentation of collection work.
- Monitor recovery payments to ensure proper log in for an accurate monthly accounting.
- Maintain applicable recovery collection logs, statistics and reports as required.
- Assist in the training of employees within the department if requested by the Member Solutions Management team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Recovery Manager, perform a variety of duties relating to foreclosed real estate, bankruptcies, estates, repossessions, collateral claims, and the collection of charged-off loans. Duties involve coordinating with attorneys and working with third-party vendors on repossessions and liquidations. Recovery activity may also include skip tracing to locate members by utilizing available collection tools, contacting charged-off members, encouraging re-payment, documenting collection activity, processing repossessed property, and maintaining applicable records and reports. The collection process is conducted in accordance with credit union policy, bankruptcy code, legal regulations, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and governing state laws.

Additional: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).
Qualifications:
Education: Equivalent to high school diploma plus additional specialized training in credit and collection practices, and regulations equal to two years of technical college.
Experience: Seven to ten years business experience including, credit and collections practices and profit and loss recovery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good verbal communications, interpersonal skills, analytical ability, organizational skills, skip tracing Excel, Word or other similar applications.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.
$63,440.00 - $79,289.60 annually
