      This position is located at Pililaau Army Recreation Center in Waianae, Hawaii (Island of Oahu).

      Duties


      • Serves as lifeguard for a waterfront property and works under the direction of the Installation Program Manager and head lifeguard.
      • Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as trained, and responds to medical emergencies throughout the property. Employs safety rules and rescue techniques for the protection of the waterfront guests.
      • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures.
      • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Attends waterfront and/or safety training as directed.
      • Assists in maintaining lifeguard tower and waterfront related equipment and supplies. Keeps area clean and free from any hazards. Maintains daily logs and records as required.

      Requirements


      • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
      • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
      • A one year probationary period may be required.
      • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
      • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
      • Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected).
      • Must have a health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army policy.
      • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
      • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
      • Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
      • Selected applicant must be able to pass a Medical Physical Examination.

      Qualifications


      Minimum Qualifications:

      1. Must currently hold the following certifications:
      • Waterfront Lifeguard Certification
      • CPR/AED Certification
      • Oxygen Administration Certification
      • First Aid Certification
      2. Must be willing to obtain First Responder Certification withinsix (6) monthsof hire date.
      3. Preferred are those with waterfront experience in ocean rescue.
