- Contribute to the overall leadership in clinical education in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic direction as well as the department’s vision and philosophy and professional practice standards by fostering a climate of continued learning and growth, and encouraging and supporting a variety of educational programs and strategies.
- Identify clinical education goals and objectives, and ensures sound ethical educational practices to advance clinical education practices.
- Contribute to the development of a regional Allied Health Educational Strategy to support the clinical transition throughout the course of a career including supporting students, new graduate programs and continuing education for experienced staff.
- Develop a regional education framework for the organization that is nimble and responsive to changing needs of the designated area/profession and the organization.
- Develop, coordinate and implement multiple Allied Health education delivery modalities for the organization that are current, easily accessible, and support the educational needs of staff, educators, programs and managers.
- Develop, support and implement education strategies to support Allied Health Clinical Educators across VCH.
- Develop program evaluation strategies to ensure key educational objectives are met, and appropriate learning has occurred.
- Lead strategic initiatives related to clinical education that support the organization’s health human resource planning priorities such as supporting / encouraging student preceptors, expansion of student programming, new graduate programs for priority professions, supported re-entry to practice programs and employed student programs. Identifies and tracks metrics to evaluate such initiatives and prepares reports for the Director of Clinical Education. \
- Liaise with post-secondary institutes as required regarding student programming and entry to practice requirements.
- Execute project plans according to project management methodologies by ensuring systems and processes are in place, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring the organization is ready for project implementation. Provides leadership to project teams as appropriate and in accordance with the agreed charter, and ensures the successful and coordinated completion of all tasks, processes, contractual arrangements and material requirements of the project.
- Contribute to the overall performance and statistical analysis pertaining to the Allied Health Clinical Education portfolios, while applying methods to enhance data quality and integrity. Works with stakeholders to provide customized analysis of data, reports of trend analysis on key indicators, and proactive indicator measurement.
- Ensure clinical education decision-making centers around evidence-based and evidence-informed practice.
- Participate in the Regional Clinical Education Services budget processes with the Regional Director, Clinical Education. Develops specific proposals related to Clinical education needs, and explores opportunities for revenue generation with educational programs and materials.
- Work within the parameters Regional Clinical Education budget, including human and financial resources, through optimizing efficiencies. Participates in the clinical education services budget processes with the Regional Director, Clinical Education including developing specific proposals for educational needs.
- Maintain awareness of Clinical Informatics competencies as they relate to clinical practice and education.
- Prepare reports for Ministry of Health and including reporting on status of MoHs Key Results Areas.
- Collaborate and partner within the Regional Clinical Education team and Professional Practice team and colleagues both internally and externally to the organization. Chairs cross-organizational and provincial meetings as required.
- Attend and participate in a variety of clinical education meetings and committees to provide updates/reports; participates in the decision making process by providing information and expertise on subject matter.
- Foster, lead and role models a healthy and safe workplace. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Current full registration with a recognized Allied Health college or association as applicable to the profession.
- Master’s Degree in Education, or other related field plus seven (7) years’ recent, related experience in a complex health environment, including progressive clinical education, and education program planning and delivery experience.
- Valid BC Driver’s License is required, as local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage reimbursement will be paid in accordance with excluded contract agreement.

Come work as a Regional Allied Health Education Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
Reporting to the Regional Director, Clinical Education, and in alignment with the department’s vision and philosophy of Leading Learning and Partnering for Potential, the Regional Allied Health Education Lead develops an organizational Clinical Education Strategy that promotes and facilitates ongoing development/growth needs of educational leaders and clinical staff. The Regional Allied Health Education Initiatives Lead provides leadership and consults with managers, Allied Health professional practice leaders, and educators regarding clinical education strategies, and initiatives, and develops innovative educational programming to support organizational initiatives, in accordance with VCH’s people-centred values and focus on advancing Indigenous Cultural Safety, cultural humility, anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion. Participates in the development of project proposals and funding applications for new initiatives.
In consultation with the Regional Clinical Education Director, Clinical Education team, Professional Practice leaders and HR Data Analytics, provides planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical education projects and initiatives. Under the direction of the Regional Clinical Education Director and in collaboration with the regional Clinical Education team, develops, implements and evaluates data analysis methodologies to support strategic initiatives for clinical education and health human resource planning and reporting. Promotes knowledge translation and acts as a resource to Regional Clinical Education team members.
