      Job summary

      This is a role for a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant post-qualification experience and an entitlement to practise law in England and Wales. As a Regional Legal Counsel, you will provide high-quality legal advice, aligned to one or more operational regions within Elysium Healthcare. You will have a high degree of autonomy in your work and will be a strategic business partner, supporting the operational functions and business to achieve its strategic priorities.

      Main duties of the job

      As a Regional Legal Counsel, you will provide timely, high-quality legal advice across key areas of law, manage a varied caseload with autonomy and sound judgment, act as a strategic legal business partner to internal stakeholders, support legal policy development and internal training, contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives, communicate legal risk clearly to non-legal audiences, and assist the General Counsel on complex and/or high-value legal matters. You will be responsible for the delivery of legal advice that is business-focused, accurate and appropriate, allowing the company to reduce its risk of exposure while achieving its commercial and business objectives.

      Are you a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant post qualification experience and an entitlement to practise law in England and Wales? If so, join Elysium Healthcare as a Regional Legal Counsel!

      As Regional Legal Counsel you will provide high-quality legal advice, aligned to one or more operational regions within Elysium. You will have regard to the need for appropriate management of legal risk and delivery of legal services to Elysium, advising across a range of areas of law which affect the regional functions.

      Your day-to-day workload will include advising on a wide range of matters including in the areas of commercial, corporate, dispute resolution, employment, procurement, construction, property and planning law.

      As a strategic business partner, you will support the operational functions and business generally to achieve its strategic priorities and be integral to the delivery of its objectives. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will have a high degree of autonomy in the work you deliver.

      As part of a wider legal, risk and governance team, you will work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the team to provide support and solutions to all levels of the business, including frontline staff, heads of departments, strategic leads, and operations and executive directors.

      As a Regional Legal Counsel, you will:

      • Provide timely, high-quality legal advice across key areas of law.
      • Manage a varied caseload with autonomy and sound judgment.
      • Act as a strategic legal business partner to internal stakeholders.
      • Support legal policy development and internal training.
      • Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives.
      • Communicate legal risk clearly to non-legal audiences.
      • Assist and work alongside the General Counsel on complex and/or high-value legal matters, for example on commercial contracts, strategic procurements, corporate or property acquisitions/disposals, material litigation, and regulatory compliance.
      • Have responsibility for the delivery of legal advice that is business–focused, accurate and appropriate so allowing the company to reduce its risk of exposure at the same time as achieving its commercial and business objectives.
      • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements whether in respect of complex and/or high-value legal matters or in support of more day-to-day business.
      • Advise the business on the resolution of commercial disputes.
      • Assist the General Counsel on the development of appropriate company policies, processes and/or training for the areas covered by the legal team.
      • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, offering legal analysis and problem-solving input to support strategic objectives.
      • Instruct, supervise and manage external lawyers as and when required.
      • Act as a key business partner to the regional functions, including creating and strengthening relationships with key colleagues.
      • Provide regular updates to the General Counsel on workload, emerging risks, and key matters.
      • Provide general legal advice and support to the regional HR teams on complex employment law issues as and when required.
      • Support other lawyers within the legal team as and when required (e.g. to cover annual leave).

      To be successful in this role, you will:

      • Be a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant post-qualification experience and an entitlement to practise law in England and Wales.
      • Have a hands-on approach to legal work and be comfortable working across multiple areas of law – for example, commercial, corporate, competition, litigation, property, employment.
      • Possess an ability to identify and minimise corporate legal risk.
      • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing.
      • Be a self-starter, proactive and commercially minded.
      • Demonstrate skills of creative problem solving, with a can-do attitude.
      • Work well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and handle competing demands.
