      Here at Bass Pro Shops we are looking to reel in our next passionate and customer focused retail operations leader to join as a Regional Director for our Mountain West region.

      Position Summary:

      The Regional Director provides operational leadership for a defined group of large-format outdoor retail stores across various regions of the company. This role ensures the consistent delivery of exceptional customer experience, retail operational excellence, and strong financial results while maintaining full compliance across regulated categories such as firearms, boat sales & service, and CLUB Credit Card operations. The Regional Director drives brand growth, talent capability, and performance through hands-on leadership, partnership with corporate teams, and a customer-first mindset.

      Key Responsibilities:

      Customer Experience & Brand Leadership

      • Champion a customer first culture that aligns with the company’s outdoor lifestyle, sporting heritage, and commitment to conservation.
      • Ensure stores consistently deliver premium service standards across all departments, including Retail, CLUB and Tracker.
      • Maintain brand integrity through visual presentation excellence, merchandising execution, and community engagement.
      • Partner with marketing and merchandising teams to drive local activation and enhance brand visibility within the region.

      Operational Excellence & Business Performance

      • Lead the execution of operational strategies to achieve regional sales, profit, and key performance targets.
      • Drive continuous improvement in productivity, shrink reduction, and service performance through data analysis and field execution.
      • Ensure operational consistency and excellence across all stores, including merchandising standards, customer experience, and a clean and inviting store experience.
      • Partner with cross functional teams to include Retail Operations, merchandising, and finance to evaluate business trends and develop actions for sustained growth.

      Executional Leadership & Field Partnership

      • Translate company strategy into regional priorities that drive growth, profitability, and customer loyalty.
      • Collaborate with Retail, CLUB, merchandising, marketing, HR, and operations to ensure alignment and execution of key initiatives.
      • Lead new store openings, remodels, and special projects that strengthen the brand’s market presence.
      • Represent the region’s voice to senior leadership, providing insight into customer, outfitter, and operational trends.

      Talent Development & Leadership

      • Recruit, develop, and mentor Store General Managers and field leadership teams to build a culture of accountability and performance.
      • Foster high levels of engagement, collaboration, and retention through coaching, recognition, and succession planning.
      • Partner with Human Resources and Talent Development to deliver programs that strengthen leadership capability, a selling culture and technical product expertise.

      Compliance & Risk Management

      • Ensure strict adherence to all company and federal regulations, including firearms sales, credit card processing, and marine/boat retail and service compliance.
      • Oversee regular compliance audits and implement proactive measures to mitigate operational and regulatory risks.
      • Serve as the regional champion for all risk management, safety, and compliance initiatives.

      Facility & Asset Management

      • Oversee store facilities to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and brand presentation.
      • Oversee the store’s management of capital expenditures, store renovations, and maintenance projects in partnership with corporate facilities teams.
      • Ensure all functions of the stores, including marine service centers, ranges, and specialized departments maintain operational excellence and compliance.

      Travel & Field Presence

      • Maintain strong field visibility through frequent store visits and hands-on store walks, engagement with teams and customers.
      • Travel up to 75–85% within the assigned region to ensure leadership consistency, support, and performance management.

      Qualifications:

      • Preferred bachelor’s degree in business management, or related field.
      • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in outdoor, sporting goods, or large-format specialty retail.
      • Proven success managing multi-unit operations with complex product categories.
      • Strong business acumen with ability to analyze performance metrics and translate insights into actionable strategies.
      • Teamwork oriented leader with excellent communication, and relationship-building skills.
      • Ability to travel extensively and work a flexible schedule as business needs require.
