CommonSpirit operates more than 2,200 care sites and 140 hospitals, serving some of the most diverse communities across the nation, letting humankindness lead the way.

      Overview

CommonSpirit Health has established a Population Health Strategies Organization (PHSO) to accelerate value-based care best practices nationwide. Representing one of the largest and most diverse payer portfolios in the U.S., the PHSO aims to increase access to equitable care, improve quality and outcomes, and lower costs for millions of patients. Leading the Mountain Region, the Regional VP Population Health Administrative Leader will report directly to the SVP, Regional Physician Enterprise Physician Executive and serve as the multi-statewide administrative operational leader to develop the overall region population health strategy and implement a physician-led, clinically integrated, provider delivery network across the region.

Successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to be the champion of a shared vision for coordinated care and shared financial risk capabilities. They will work in collaboration with physician leaders, operations, and finance leaders to ensure the development of a patient-centered health network that supports improvements in care through broad, active participation by a wide range of aligned groups. This executive will also provide strategic leadership in assessing, developing, and implementing quality and cost data management systems. The Regional Vice President will have responsibility for building the infrastructure, including a team and associated resources commensurate with the growth of the network across the division. This executive will strategically position this network to help the region and its affiliated provider groups remain relevant and sustainable, while helping transform the care delivery and reimbursement model in the geography.

      Strategic Objectives:

      • Assist in creating new value-based care contracts with payors across the division
      • Craft strategic collaboration with key Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs) in the region for “exporting” its population health management capabilities to the area employers, for building healthy communities in the geography.
      • Develop and implement direct-to-employer (DTE) initiative in the geography, while growing Division population health’s provider network, number of managed “lives,” and progressively taking higher levels of risk.
      • Build professional and personal credibility and trust with the leadership of CommonSpirit Health, region leadership, physicians, peers, and others throughout the system and the network of region population health providers. Develop effective relationships and follow through with all key stakeholders.
      • Build a strong team by hiring and managing staff to support the goals and initiatives of the region population health strategy. Create and develop a plan for staff to include educational requirements, standards of behavior, and accountability expectations.
      • Build the information technology and operational infrastructure needed to support the organization, which will include collecting clinical and claims data to use for proactive care associated with quality improvement and cost efficiency initiatives.
      • Help distinguish the organization from competitors by capitalizing on key strategies. Create ways to collaborate more effectively with the other hospitals, and the system where possible, to grow and build the region population health organization.

      Qualifications

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

      • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Business Management
      • 8 years or more of progressively responsible leadership responsible for payor strategy and/or population health management
      • Significant population health knowledge and expertise
      • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain business relationships of trust and transparency while working effectively with governing boards, physicians, physician leaders and other business partners
      • Willing to be flexible as it relates to making changes and empowered to take the lead in driving that change
