      Position Summary:
      The Sleep Technician – Certified (ST – C) will perform various polysomnograms and other sleep disorder tests as needed. Assists in the scheduling process as needed to assure patients are scheduled, insurance authorization complete, and patient attends study. Scores studies and reports data from various studies and reports this information to the physician. The ST-C will be required to perform the following processes including but not limited to, explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center, prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning, perform routine PAP mask fitting, and apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards. The ST-C will assist with "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values. The ST-C will document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnography results. The ST-C will complete other duties as assigned.

      All organizational staff, including this position, are specifically required as a condition of continued employment to make advance preparations for their families and pets in the event of weather emergencies such as Hurricanes and flooding threats. Any staff member can be determined as essential staff required to report to the facility during these events. In many cases this means reporting and sleeping at the facility before, during and after a weather emergency. By signing this job description, the staff member accepts this responsibility of readiness to report to work during any designated emergency staffing situation. CMC staff members operate as one team meeting the healthcare needs of our communities, thus this position will on occasion complete other duties as assigned beyond those designated in this primary job description which may include “float” coverage at an alternate facility, department or assignment.

      Qualifications

      Education:

      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • Completion of required training per Sleep Accreditation Board (i.e. AASM) for eligibility to sit for registry exam required.
      • Associated degree (AS) in health related field with an emphasis in polysomnography preferred.

      Experience:

      • Minimum 6 months of clinical polysomnography care experience required.

      Licensure/Certification/Registration:

      • Registered Polysomnography Technologist by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) required.
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.

      Special Skills:
