Job Description
- Req#: 534196
- Registers patients obtaining the necessary personal, insurance, and other data required for proper tracking and billing.
- Verifies insurance coverage with carrier or employer; via phone or payer sites.
- Answers basic insurance/ financial questions and escalates further questions to the appropriate department
- Responsible for taking payments on hospital services, past due balances, and keeping a balanced cash drawer.
- Switchboard training
- Escalates patient concerns to the lead or patient service supervisor
- High school graduate is preferred.
- At least one year of general office experience; required
- Excellent customer service skills; required.
- Included in weekend/holiday schedule rotation.
- Completed hospital training competencies.
- Previous healthcare experience; preferred.
Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary:
A Patient Services Representative (3) is trained to work in hospital registration areas across all patient service departments. Establishes patient accounts, gathers billing information, insurance cards and guarantor information. Tracks EMS admissions and completes registration bedside. The Representative (3) is responsible for collecting past patient balances and keeping a balanced drawer. Stays up to date on all current insurance information and changes. Obtains appropriate signatures as needed. Directs patients to the appropriate department for necessary services. Immediately notifies emergency room staff of a potential critical patient. Assures all information collected is kept confidential per HIPPA.

Pay Range:
Pay ranges from $15.500/hour to $22.081/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
Position Information:
Location: 721 E. Court Street Paris, IL 61944
Hours: Monday- Friday 830a-5p rotating weekends (1 weekend every 5 weeks), and Holidays (1 major one year, 2 minor next year)
