Rehabilitation Assistant - care with a difference! *Multiple Locations, weekend enhancements & development opportunities*

Full- and part-time opportunities in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud and the Cotswolds!

This post is a Band 3 role (Band 2 for those New-to-Care allowing you to obtain the Care Certificate and develop to Band 3 within 6 months)

Do you want to make a difference to people's lives? Our Home First & Reablement service supports people return home after a stay in hospital and we do care with a difference!

We support people with washing, getting dressed or making a meal, while also focusing on rehabilitation and empowering people to regain their confidence and independence after they have been unwell.

If you are new to care and hold no experience in healthcare, then we offer a fantastic development opportunity with a structured development plan (including achieving the Care Certificate). You will progress from a pay band 2 to pay band 3 on achievement of the Care Certification.

      Main duties of the job

You don't need any previous caring experience - we can train you on the job and offer ongoing development such as achieving the Care Certificate and Apprenticeship opportunities.

All we ask is that you:

      • enjoy working with people
      • understand what motivates people
      • are comfortable being involved in practical, sometimes personal and intimate care provision
      • have a desire to learn and develop skills
      • hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use, as this is a community-based role (mileage will be paid)

We have flexible working patterns to suit you - You can work 4 days on, then have 4 days off, 2 days on and 2 days off or evenings-only, on a rolling pattern to make sure that we can provide our services 365 days a year to those people who need us.

We have a great team, all working together to really make a difference to the people that we support. If you would like to come and chat to us about what we do, please give us a call.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.

      About us

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.

Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:

      • 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
      • 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
      • 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
