Job Responsibilities:
- Produce employment statistics and projections under the direction of the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
- Serve as the lead worker for the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program.
- Report monthly and annual employment, hours, and earnings estimates for Ohio and its metropolitan areas.
- Collect, review, and edit employment data.
- Review statistical data for validity and reliability.
- Draft narratives describing monthly and annual CES data for publications.
- Track and report relevant economic events to BLS.
- Monitor and track notifications of labor disputes, strikes, and layoff events.
- Create reports such as the Labor Market Review and Monthly Estimation State Analysis as a backup.
Necessary Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Microsoft Access skills.
- Statistical analysis skills.
- Writing skills.
Schedule:
- This position is remote, with standard workdays from Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Remote workspaces should be secure, reasonably quiet, and free of distractions.
Travel:
- Travel may be required for business purposes, including in-state trainings and all-staff meetings (approximately three to four times a year) and out-of-state conferences (about once every two years).
Qualifications:
- Completion of an undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, including 1 course in parametric statistics.
- At least 24 months of training or experience in the application of social research methods, including 6 months of training or experience in computer operations.
- OR at least 4 years of experience in social or behavioral science, including 2 years of experience in the application of social research methods.
- At least 6 months of experience in computer operations.
- OR at least 1 year of experience as a Labor Market Analyst 2.
- OR the equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment.
Additional Information:
- Pay information: This position is in the State of Ohio's OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 31. Starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range ($25.45 per hour).
