What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct medical record reviews and medical waiver adjudications
- Perform military medical assessments in compliance with USCG policies
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA compliance standards and medical requirements
- Utilize EMR systems such as Cerner EMR and MHS GENESIS for maintaining healthcare records
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the USCG healthcare network
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Doctorate or Master’s Degree in a medical field (PA, NP, or equivalent) from an accredited program
- Current, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state
- Board certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of three years of experience in medical record review, waiver adjudication, or military medical assessments
- At least one year of experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Additional specialty certifications in emergency medicine or behavioral health
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
- American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) certification
- Psychiatric – Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification
