      Job Summary

      Overview

      Vistra Corp. is seeking a qualified candidate to join the Development team as a summer 2024 intern. The position will support the early through late-stage development engineering activities for our Vistra Zero projects. As a member of the Development department, the intern will be responsible for managing assigned projects and/or supporting senior team members, in alignment with the business’s requirements and priorities. This position contributes to the department by coordinating cross-functional groups within the organization and contracted resources.

      Our summer internship is a 12-week program designed to provide students with experience and skills they need in their studies and future careers. The program will begin mid-May and end late August 2024. This intern will report through Development’s Pre-Construction & Engineering team. Based on the intern’s qualifications and interests, we will tailor the program and establish a relationship with the team within Development that best fits the needs and interests of the intern. By the end of this program, the intern should have learned what engineering activities are required during each stage of a renewable energy development project.

      Job Description

      Responsibilities

      · Assist department with assigned projects

      · Evaluate site constraints and create a site layout to evaluate system size and design

      · Create energy model of the site layout to evaluate the energy output of the project

      · Coordinate design reviews of late-stage development projects

      · Gather data and information to support departmental activities

      · Present final project to senior leadership and the end of the internship program

      · Travel to project sites as needed

      · All other duties as assigned

      Requirements

      · Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering, electrical engineering, or related field

      · Understanding of renewable power generation and energy storage system technologies

      · Interested in renewable energy development for solar photovoltaic and battery energy systems.

      · Foundational exposure to Microsoft Office 365 tools, AutoCAD or Civil 3d and any design tools like PVSyst, SAM, PVWatts, etc.
