Pompeian’s Early Talent Program is currently offering a summer internship in the Quality Department for Research & Development. Baltimore based since 1906, Pompeian, Inc. is the leading national brand of Olive Oil, bestselling vinegars, and cooking sprays. This team is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Intern to assist Managers and the R&D team. This role is on site at the Corporate Headquarters at 4201 Pulaski highway in Baltimore. Job Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance and actively collaborate with the Research & Development Department in monitoring, maintaining and executing R&D projects, such as the development of different PET bottles with recycled plastic
• Conduct tests for the development of new Pompeian products, and enhancing packaging materials
• Support the Operational Quality Supervisor by coordinating activities with the manufacturing department including data collection, trend evaluation, and root cause analysis to enhance and optimize packaging materials
• Assist the R&D department in the preparation of internal & external reports such as test reports which will show the data collected, results, conclusions and support recommendations
• Support the update and revision of R&D KPIs and suggest enhancements to optimize R&D processes
• Assist in the creation and updates for packaging materials and finished product specifications in the system called SpecRight
• Ensure all projects comply with company environmental goals
• Performs duties per Pompeian’s mission, goals, and core values
• All other duties and tasks assigned

Requirements:

• Working toward a bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering, or related field
• Must be available to work June 3rd – August 16th on site at 4201 Pulaski Highway at Pompeian Baltimore Headquarters manufacturing plant Monday – Friday
• Familiarity with Research and Development of food or packaging is a plus
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Skills
• Excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills
• Strong ability to work as part of a team
• Self-starter and not afraid to take initiative
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong innovation skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must have predictable and strong attendance
