- Successful completion of TABE (Reading & Math) test.
- Successful Completion of IVO certification training. ( Industrial Vehicle Operator )
- Successful Completion of JSA reading. ( Job Safety and Health Analysis)
- Successful Completion of GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Understand the fundamental properties of packaging materials, and how they are utilized in the industry.
- Familiar with basic physical laboratory equipment.
- Current on PTM's, Work instructions and work related procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Proficient in PC based software, Excel spreadsheets, Word, Outlook, Lotus Notes and Iren/PRM applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communicating skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, along with independently.
- Ability to interpret test results and record appropriately.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize work assignments and projects.
- Ability to work with supervision.
- High School Diploma required: AAS, Technical Certificate or equivalent work experience preferred with, scientific or technical field with an emphasis on lab techniques and instrumentation or equivalent packaging work experience.
- Work with development engineers
- Test raw materials; in-process materials and finished materials.
- Communicate test results to appropriate people.
- Participate in internal as well as external teams.
- Prepare customer samples (sheets or discs) and pack for shipment.
- Provide support to Engineers by performing lab tests on in process or finished goods material reporting and interpretation of test results with recommendations.
- Follow documented WI's and Procedures (PTM)(ASTM and Tappi) related to Lab Technologist.
- Interface with external suppliers and customers through meetings, laboratory tours and site visits.
- Calibrate lab test equipment on a timely basis. Calibration results are recorded and maintained.
- Update lab skill proficiency.
- Support goals of department.
- Maintain good housekeeping of R&D Lab facilities
- Communicating with development, process and quality engineers
- Obtain raw materials
- Assist in pilot plant during trials or production runs
- Log sample rolls into NPD sample room
- Assist with customer samples provided to sales group
- Responsible for samples in Packaging Library (ongoing)

Description:
The TekniPlex Development team is seeking a summer intern to lead new product development projects. During the 6 months in this role, you will actively participate in all aspects of product development alongside the Winston Salem R&D team. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with development, process and quality engineers, facilitating/maintaining test samples, and driving customer value through meaning interface (visits, tours, etc.). This is an on-site position, 5 days a week.
