What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Transcribe interviews using a secure, non-networked computer at Whitman College
- Format and de-identify interview transcripts for confidentiality
- Code interview transcripts using qualitative analysis software (Dedoose)
- Attend and participate in research group meetings
- Handle sensitive data with the utmost security and professionalism
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Ability to complete transcription work on-site in Walla Walla, WA
- Strong understanding of research methods and ethics
- Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis
- Coursework in environmental studies, policy, sociology, or related fields
- Familiarity with Slack and Google Drive; experience with qualitative coding software is desirable
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in environmental research or related fields
- Knowledge of federal environmental policies and governance
- Skills in data management and analysis
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration
- Interest in environmental justice and advocacy
