What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct complex legal research and prepare memoranda, documents, and summaries for judicial officers
- Review and summarize evidence and procedural history in various legal matters
- Analyze legal authorities, including statutes and case law, using traditional and computerized research methods
- Provide oral briefings to judicial officers on research findings and legal analysis
- Draft formal orders, rulings, and judgments based on legal research and analysis
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduation from an accredited school of law
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience as a practicing, licensed attorney with an emphasis on legal research, analysis, and writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse individuals
- Proficiency in using personal computers and legal research tools
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney is desirable
- Experience in a court setting or with trial processes
- Familiarity with California Trial Court processes and Rules of Court
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to appraise a variety of legal documents
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
