      Job Summary/Basic Function:

      The purpose of the Data Analyst position is to manage, analyze, and present data collected from youth in Idaho on their well-being and mental health. The Data Analyst is the person who has the overall responsibility for ensuring data organization, management, statistical analysis, interpretation, presentation, and reporting for various audiences, including scientific and layperson audiences. The Data Analyst will also include grant writing and manuscript preparation (methods and results).

      Communities for Youth is an Idaho-based organization dedicated to engaging with our communities to create upstream prevention approaches to promote youth well-being. We empower Idaho communities by connecting parents, schools, and kids with the capacity to recognize and address youth health concerns so that all may thrive.       Level Scope:

      Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

      Essential Functions:

      60% of the time the Data Analyst must:

      • Prepare and present statistical and narrative reports with an emphasis placed on detail and accuracy.
      • Dissects and summarizes information with visually compelling charts and graphs to achieve understanding at all levels of the organization.
      • Effectively presents and articulates findings to key stakeholders digitally, in person, and in written forms.
      • Publishes standard and complex ad-hoc reports with varying detail for different audiences.
      • Responsible for responding to and providing data for internal and external surveys.
      • Work in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
      • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

      35% of the time the Data Analyst must:

      Specific Duties & Responsibilities

      • Work as a key member of a project team with primary responsibility for oversight of quantitative data organization, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research data. Utilize knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis.
      • Conduct sophisticated computer programming and statistical modeling, using statistical software such as R, Matlab, Stata, SAS, or other similar programs.
      • Maintain detailed knowledge of assigned protocols. Works on research studies that require a high level of knowledge, coordination, and data abstraction.
      • Generate reports, charts, tables, and presentations suitable for various audiences, including scientific audiences and laypersons.
      • Make important design and data collection methodology recommendations.
      • Detect and assist in solving problems in research survey instruments, data collection, data quality, data transfer, and data analysis.
      • Clean incoming data files, integrate data files into a data management system, manage data databases, update summary files, create data presentations, and process additional data requests from project teams and project partners.
      • Ensure data quality through the execution of computer programs, development of protocol, and other quality assurance. Ensure data confidentiality. Ensure integrity, accuracy, and security of data.
      • Help develop grant proposals, project reports, and manuscripts for publication.
      • Present data and reports to the project team.
      • Design, create, and edit data collection surveys as needed in Qualtrics.

      5% of the time the Data Analyst must:

      • Perform other duties as assigned.
      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
      • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise patience and understand others’ viewpoints.
      • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
      • Ability to take initiative without established guidelines and procedures using independent judgment.
      • Ability to independently research problem areas, facilitate meetings and decision-making processes.
      • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrative experience with presentation and data-gathering software.
      • Experience applying analytical methods to business problems, driving improved decision-making and outcomes.
      • Advanced knowledge of Excel analytics; statistical analysis, survey tools, and research techniques.
      • Excellent oral/written English language skills.
      Minimum Qualifications:

      Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Three years of related experience.
      • Proficient in Qualtrics.
      • Proficient in statistical software such as R, Matlab, Stata, SAS, or other similar program.
      • Experience with data visualizations for various audiences.
      • Master’s Degree in a related discipline.
      • Experience with non-profit or health-related data.
      Salary and Benefit s:
      Salary range is $53,456.00 to $66,830.40 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
