- Establishes research objectives and methodology, designs procedures, conducts research projects, analyzes, and interprets results.
- Manage computational laboratory operations, including staff development and adherence to applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
- Establishes research objectives and methodology, designs procedures, conducts research projects, analyzes, and interprets results.
- Preparation and publication of manuscripts in peer review journals.
- Ensures proper training of Research staff, Pre and Post-Doctoral Fellows.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure
- Data and Statistical analysis
- Ability to manage research projects with minimal supervision
- Writing and presentation skills
- Problem solving and creativity
- PhD, MD, or DVM in Related Field .
- Minimum of 3 years of prior Postdoctoral research experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
MARKETING STATEMENT:
A research scientist position is available immediately to investigate host immunity and the pathogenesis of arboviruses and respiratory viruses in animal and human cell culture models. The successful candidate should be highly motivated with a demonstrable publication record in virology, and/or immunology. She or he is expected to have good communication and organizational skills. Prior experience with animal model (mouse) studies is preferred but is not required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
