What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Design interview and focus group questions on stakeholder perspectives on the Animal Care program
- Conduct interviews and focus groups
- Lead the qualitative analysis of data and write-ups of key results
- Develop presentations and reports on key research findings
- Attend workshops and meetings to present results to Animal Care program staff and stakeholders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Ph.D. degree in Social Science, Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, Social Work, or related discipline
- Background and interest in research on stakeholder perspectives on animal protection/welfare
- Demonstrated capability in conducting interviews and leading qualitative analyses
- Publication record in qualitative social science research
- Experience using NVivo for qualitative analysis
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working on social science research on public and stakeholder perspectives on animals in facilities regulated by the USDA Animal Care Program
- Understanding of the federal Animal Welfare Act, the Horse Protection Act, and the USDA Animal Care Program
- Experience interviewing, communicating with, or working with diverse stakeholders on issues around animal-human relations
