What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist in ongoing amphibian and reptile conservation projects through field research and data analysis
- Conduct surveys for snakes, salamanders, and turtles, ensuring accurate monitoring and data collection
- Safely capture and process animals, including marking individuals and collecting samples for analysis
- Install and maintain camera trap arrays and artificial cover objects in various habitats
- Develop and write herpetological conservation plans, utilizing population viability analysis software
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in fieldwork, specifically with Eastern Massasaugas
- Proficiency in Vortex population viability analysis and R statistical software
- Ability to work in adverse conditions, including extreme weather and challenging terrains
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a valid driver's license
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with amphibians and reptiles native to Ohio
- Experience with common surveying, measuring, and marking techniques
- Knowledge of ESRI GIS software
