What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist with field and laboratory research studying carnivore responses to urbanization and disease ecology
- Compile and manage field data through radiotracking and live capture methods
- Enter data into databases for GIS analysis and prepare data summaries for reports
- Maintain research equipment, supplies, and vehicles, including monitoring and ordering supplies as needed
- Conduct fieldwork within the Chicago area, often in variable outdoor conditions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Experience studying coyote responses and compiling field data through radiotracking and live capture
- Ability to work independently outdoors for long hours under variable conditions
- Strong note-taking and communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in wildlife management, zoology, or a related field
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in environmental research
- Rabies pre-exposure vaccination or recent titer check
- Ability to work independently is highly desired
- Experience with quantitative/spatial analysis
