      Job Description

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      Upholds Marshall Medical Center’s (MMC’s) Standards of Behavior to promote health improvement and provide health services of extraordinary value and quality to our community in a healing and compassionate environment.

      Ensures compliance with all safety requirements in accordance with hospital risk management and safety policies and procedures.

      Adheres to policies and procedures of the department as well as those of MMC.

      Effectively administers respiratory therapy per physician orders in order to provide appropriate patient care.

      Effectively manages invasive and non-invasive ventilators to normalize patients’ CO2 and O2 levels.

      Provides customer service by communicating with patients and their parent’s/significant other’s, team members and all other customers in a respectful, sensitive and effective manner as measured by customer feedback.

      Maintains and consistently records pertinent patient information for fulfill department and The Joint Commission’s standards.

      Maintains pertinent licenses and certifications in order to comply with California State Standards.

      Completes assigned administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

      Determines priorities in workload and completes projects in an accurate and timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned.

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education/Licensure/Certification:

      • Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.

      • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from The American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.

      • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Heart Association required.

      • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from The American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.

      Knowledge:

      • All aspects of respiratory care including emergency room and intensive care settings as well as labor and delivery and neonatal care.

      • Knowledge of human growth and development to modify care to age and development status.

      Skills:

      • Skilled in all aspects of respiratory care.

      • Basic computer skills required.

      • Must be able to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.

      • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

      • Able to multi-task, work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

      • Must be able to deal with stressful and emotional situations involving severely ill patients and their families.

      *Note: Positions that read "- DMV" (after the title in Position Manager and in the job posting) require employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver’s License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
