Join our team at Weill Cornell Medicine and become a Revenue Cycle Specialist in our Central Business Office. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise as a Certified Professional Coder to investigate and resolve coding related insurance payment denials. We partner with our Clinical Departments to increase revenue, reduce aged accounts receivable, and prevent coding denials. Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct retrospective coding and documentation review of denied charges for physician services
- Analyze invalid denial trends, payer specific submission requirements, and system optimization
- Perform extensive follow-up to investigate and resolve payment denial trends
- Utilize ancillary applications and websites to retrieve medical documentation, claim status, and billing guidelines
- Research and interpret payer contract terms and compile necessary supporting documentation for appeals
Education:
- High school diploma or GED in a related field
Experience:
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- 3-5 years of physician billing experience, including accounts receivable and collections
- Prior experience with eMR systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party reimbursement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting software
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in CPT and ICD10 CM coding guidelines
- Ability to meet productivity standards and identify issues or trends
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and exercise independent judgment
- Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Professional Coder Certificate (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Remote-based work with occasional onsite requirements
