What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform defensive charge audits and special audit projects, comparing itemized bills to medical records
- Conduct audits for Medicare/Medicaid Cost Outlier accounts prior to billing, ensuring accuracy
- Collaborate with the Chargemaster team to optimize charge integrity
- Prepare written reports of audit findings and present recommendations to management
- Research and communicate federal and state documentation and billing rules
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field required
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding conventions and Medicare billing practices
- Ability to analyze complex problems and communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
- RN, CCS, CPC, or RHIT/RHIA certification required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and charge capture workflows
- Working knowledge of DRG/APC reimbursement models
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
