What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform charge entry, charge approvals, and quality charge reviews, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines
- Review clinical documentation thoroughly to validate and capture all charges accurately
- Educate clinical staff on the importance of accurate documentation to optimize revenue integrity
- Coordinate denial analysis with Patient Business Service centers, assisting in appeals and root cause analysis
- Maintain productivity standards and compliance with regulatory requirements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant coding and charge control work experience in a hospital and/or physician practice environment
- CPC license is required
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical processes, including coding and billing
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical documentation improvement processes is strongly preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in neurosurgery coding is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) and Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) reimbursement structures
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, particularly Epic
- Knowledge of clinical coding audits and charge processes
