What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct audits of medical records to identify missed charges and incorrect coding
- Perform root cause analyses and report findings related to billing opportunities
- Retrieve missing patient information and documentation required for billing
- Prepare reports and executive summaries of audit findings for educational purposes
- Assist with Clinical Documentation recommendations and coding guidance research
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience
- Must have and maintain an approved coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA
- Must obtain at least one additional certification (CANPC or CPMA) within 1 year of employment
- Extensive knowledge of medical billing software and electronic medical records
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft 365 and Excel proficiency
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous coding experience within Anesthesia or General Surgery
- Knowledge of clinical documentation compliance and regulatory requirements
