- Review, monitor, analyze, trend and address risks identified throughout the organization in the incident reporting system and report on these risks to foster alignment with organizational objectives.
- Appropriately and timely manage reported safety events through review, investigation/follow-up, coding, RCA/Debrief facilitation as indicated, development of action items to address and closing of events in the incident reporting system.
- Ensure timely reporting of adverse events to appropriate regulatory agencies as required by state and federal law.
- Routinely and proactively identify risk through review of medical staff peer review issues, patient/family grievances, customer complaints, committee minutes, third party reports, attorney requests for records and administrative or associate referrals.
- Review, analyze and trend event reporting and claims data to identify opportunities for improvement within the Health First organization. Partner with the appropriate stakeholders to address identified risk opportunity areas. Present risk data at identified committees and meetings to facilitate transparency and collaboration in addressing the identified risk trends.
- Collaborate and team with colleagues to foster and build a risk-intelligent culture. Participate in established Health First IDN quality, performance improvement and safety oversight committees.
- Support and encourage a service atmosphere through routine communication and collaboration with key partners, including but not limited to the Quality, Legal, Claims, Compliance, Privacy, Safety and Security, Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Health First Leadership and other clinical and non-clinical partners.
- Serve as a resource for all Health First Associates for compliance with regulatory requirements and in risk reduction and elimination. Work collaboratively with members of the medical staff, administration, patients, visitors, vendors, staff, regulatory agency personnel and other necessary parties to comply with legal and regulatory requirements in a way that is transparent, honest and respectful.
- Collaborate with the Claims and Legal Departments to promote the identification of potential claims and the containment of claims and losses. Collaborate with the Claims and Legal Departments to develop innovative approaches intended to reduce the frequency and severity of medical malpractice, patient/visitor injury, and all other general liability claims. Collaborate with the Claims and Legal Departments to determine appropriate utilization and delivery of Non-Disclosure Agreements, Release of Liability and other forms in indicated situations.
- Perform responsibilities of Clinical Risk Manager as needed
- Serve as the IDN ADA/Section 504 Coordinator and oversee this program.
- Serve as a point of contact for communication and survey activity with AHCA and other regulatory agencies.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to cover for risk management on-call service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as scheduled.
- Ability to effectively work and maintain composure in often stressful environments.

- Proficient computer skills (ex: PowerPoint, Excel, extracting data and reports).
- Knowledge of Health First’s strategic and organizational goals.
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
- Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
!*!POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the System Director of Risk Management, the Risk Manager implements and maintains the risk management program for the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (4 hospitals, Medical Group, Outpatient Services and Health Plan). The Risk Manager is responsible for proactive risk identification, risk reduction, oversight/trending of event reports and knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
Work Experience:
Work Experience in lieu of education: 3 years of related Risk Management experience in a health care organization.
Licensure: None
Certification: None
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field.
Work Experience: Three years Risk Management experience.
Work Experience in lieu of education:
Licensure: Clinical licensure in nursing or related healthcare field.
Certification: Risk Management.
